In August, I made the choice to leave a Problem Solving Court program I poured my heart and soul into. I cared too much about the participants and the Elected Official/my boss that started the program did not care enough about the People he took an oath to represent. That boss, a seven time elected Democrat State’s Attorney up for re-election in November unopposed, was and is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I didn’t see it as clear during the 9 years I was part of the hunger games we played at that office. The dust has settled and I have clarity.

I have a hard time fitting every life experience into a right and wrong box. Even as a prosecutor. So I challenged the norm.

Fact is we have all committed a “wrong” against society by the word of the written law. Some have been held fully accountable, others not so much. What happens when government is the problem AND the solution?

Our country has evolved in the past 240 years. The justice system was not created to judge people for moral turpitude based on lack of life experience and outdated laws.

I urge you to be part of the solution this election season. I will not tell you who to vote for. Get informed. Vote for people because of their knowledge, hard work and ability to be fluid, not because of divisive political party lines encouraged by media optics not moral values. You never know when a Republican will put on his or her Democrat face to fit a mold and vice versa.

Want to know if you align with someone to elect them to have power over your tax dollars? Ask a few people who worked for the individual.

This is my good friend Anthony. He’s the only one crystal clear in this picture. I had the honor of being his prosecutor, turned into my colleague, and chose each other as family out of mutual respect and core moral values. I hope you’re alive Ant. Although it’s been a few weeks since I’ve heard your voice, I still hear you. Do you hear him?
